250 Years of America & 150 Years of Colorado

As America turns 250, Colorado approaches its 150th birthday in 2026. From our mountain towns to our urban corridors, from the plains to the Western Slope, this is our opportunity to celebrate Colorado’s legacy of independence, resilience, and outdoor stewardship by caring for the places that define us.

A Once in a Generation Moment

The Greatest American Cleanup is more than a series of litter pickups. It is a statewide movement designed to:

  • Remove litter and debris from roadsides, parks, waterways, and public spaces

  • Restore and beautify neighborhoods and community gathering places

  • Collect data to identify litter hotspots and inform prevention strategies

  • Inspire civic pride and long term stewardship across Colorado

Our goal is bold: mobilize thousands of Coloradans in coordinated cleanups across all regions of the state leading up to Colorado’s 150th anniversary.

Colorado’s 150:

A Cleaner Future

As we celebrate 150 years of Colorado statehood, we are asking a simple but powerful question:

What will we pass on to the next 150 years?

Through the Greatest American Cleanup, we are honoring Colorado’s past while building a cleaner, stronger future. Every bag of litter removed, every tree planted, and every volunteer engaged is a gift to the next generation.

This is a statewide investment in litter prevention, education, civic pride, and community elevation.
